In 2009 Darrell retired after a 32 year career of teaching and coaching at Kearney High School. He stays involved with Kearney Public by serving as a substitute teacher and activities worker.
Darrell is a member of First Lutheran Church, and also enjoys volunteering at Rowe Sanctuary and at the Red Cross.
He is on the building committee at Habitat.
